What is the California Bicycle Coalition?

The California Bicycle Coalition enables more people to bicycle for the health, safety, and prosperity of all Californians.

We envision millions of people riding bikes every day in California. Networks of safe streets and paths conveniently connecting every destination. People of all ages and abilities enjoying the health and happiness that comes from bicycling. Our local communities growing stronger economically. Traffic-related injuries less common, and fatalities rare. California a national model for sustainable transportation.

That's the vision we have for California's future, and by joining us on this ride, you can help us get there.

We're making great progress, with successes like the Protected Bikeways Act, which in October 2014 made it legal to build protected bike lanes, and the Three Feet for Safety Act, which since September 2014 has required motorists to leave 3 feet of space when passing people riding bicycles.

And every day, we're pushing for more funding and better laws and policies to enable more people to ride bikes. We're pushing for lots of funding for complete, low-stress bicycle networks, so that everyone can get anywhere they need to go in their communities on protected bike lanes, quiet bike boulevards, and bicycle paths. Our goal is to double the amount of bicycling in the Golden State by 2017 and triple it by 2020.

You can help us get there: join us on the California Dream Tour and help us build a better California through bicycling.
