I'm Riding Again to Support Cycling Safety in California!

Recently retired, I'm more passionate than ever about making cycling safer in California.  With the current uncertainty about the availability of federal funding for local transportation projects, one of the best things we can do is help the California Bicycle Coalition in its tireless pursuit of legislation that protects cyclists.  One of the most recent, and effective, examples of such legislation is the "3-foot" law.  Those of you who ride California's roads will surely have noticed that most motorists now seem to understand that they must give a cyclist at least three feet of room when passing, and that until they can do so, they must wait behind the cyclist.

In October, the Coalition is once again running the California Dream Ride as a fundraiser.  This year's route runs 280 miles, starting in Folsom, with stops in Davis, Calistoga, Occidental, and Corte Madera, then crossing the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco, followed by a ferry trip to Oakland for the final night of the tour.

The California Bicycle Coalition has an effective legislative program that will bring additional protective laws and programs into being--but they need our support!  I'm riding to raise $2500 for the Coalition's Bikeways to Everywhere Initiative, which advocates for safe, connected bikeway networks for all Californians, and I'm hoping you can contribute to helping me reach my goal.

Will you support me with a donation of $25, $50, or even $100? Or perhaps a dime or quarter or a dollar per mile?

Thank you so much for your support! I really appreciate your helping to make California better for people who ride bikes -- and for everyone!
